Warm Coat & Warm Hearts

Each year we provide hundreds of NEW winter coats, hats, gloves, boots and snow pants to children in need in School District 303.We collect donations so we are able to buy winter gear when it goes on sale each year.

In 2021 we distributed 201 NEW winter coats with matching hats and gloves to D303 students whose parents had requested them on their Holiday wish lists.  We delivered the coats to each school in October before it got cold.  We heard the children were so excited to come back from recess and see their new winter items!

Throughout the school year, we receive requests from D303 social workers who have noticed children in need of winter gear. We are able to provide them with what they need to stay warm.

We are able to do this because of your donations. We purchase NEW winter gear when they go on clearance each year.

We are selective on what we buy and make sure these are items children will be proud to wear. We understand that wearing a warm coat is important for our bodies and wearing something kids feel comfortable in around their peers is important for their hearts. Hence the name WARM COATS & WARM HEARTS.

Parents and guardians in need…

If you are in need of winter gear for your child and don’t have a way to provide them for your child, please contact your D303 school social worker and ask them about Big Hearts Warm Coats & Warm Hearts Program.
